USAID CELEBRATES SPRING At Kiu, GILGIT BALTISTAN

Spring brings lots of happiness with it and spread it all around the world. Spring is considered as best blessing of God by all Creatures. For this reason on 28th April 2018 at Karakoram International University, Gilgit different vendors, farmers, shopkeepers and local community gathered to celebrate USAID sponsored funfair. The event showcased the USAID supported water and hygiene iinnovations, agriculture including the construction of on-farm irrigation systems on 15,500 acres downstream from the Satpara Dam in Gilgit-Baltistan. Such type of innovations and improvements has increased the productivity, quality and availability of high value fruits, vegetables.
Such types of activities are more important and essential in creating awareness and enlighting small communities about the modern ways and techniques development efforts have benefited these communities and regions,” said Vice Chancellor Karakorum International University Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed. He further said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan always have welcomed new innovation and inventions. “It is very important for them to know about the developments in their region and how they can benefit even more,” he said “These farmers are more empowered now to produce agricultural products; they earn more money and live better lifestyles. Their children go to schools and dream of becoming teachers, lawyers and doctors.”
